Enterprise Bargaining - policy required

An increasing proportion of the PSA’s membership are employed under the Fair Work Act and have their terms and conditions determined by enterprise bargaining. The PSA is currently covered by some thirty-odd enterprise agreements in sectors such as higher education, utilities, superannuation and private sector entities. With a LNP State Government seemingly hell bent on further privatisations and outsourcing of essential government services, this proportion is only likely to increase in coming years.

To address these issues, the Rank and File team will:

  1. Establish an enterprise bargaining unit where all workplaces subject to enterprise agreements are grouped and serviced

  2. Resource this unit with trained staff who are knowledgeable and experienced in enterprise bargaining, the Fair Work system and right of entry laws

  3. Capitalise on gains made in areas of strong membership density by ensuring improvements to terms and conditions of employment achieved in these workplaces flow onto smaller or less unionised workplaces

  4. As per the Rank and File policy with respect to affiliations, work more co-operatively with the ACTU, the CPSU and other Unions where possible in order to ensure our service to members in these areas is of the highest standard and not a secondary consideration
